摘要

In recent years important scientific evidence has emerged regarding the treatment of chronic coronary syndrome (CCS). Based on this evidence the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines 2024 introduced an updated definition of CCS and a revised diagnostic approach. They emphasize the use of the risk factor-weighted clinical likelihood model to assess the pre-test probability of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) as well as the increasing importance of coronary computed tomography in patients with low to intermediate risk. The guidelines also highlight the importance of disease-modifying pharmacotherapy, particularly cholesterol-lowering medications and the role of myocardial revascularization in improving the prognosis of patients with CCS. Shared decision-making between patients and healthcare providers based on patient-centered care is more than ever decisive for determining the most appropriate treatment strategy.
