摘要

Up to 2050 cardiovascular diseases are likely to be the diseases with the highest morbidity and mortality and represent new challenges for treating physicians. Against this background, semi-residential care will become increasingly more important. In 2023 and 2024 the members of the Professorial Conference Cardiology have addressed the future orientation of university clinics for cardiology in workshops. Based on this a consensus paper was prepared, which summarizes the strategic cornerstones, details and challenges of university cardiology and is directed at the boards of university clinics, the Association of University Clinics in Germany (VUD), the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), the funding bodies and policymakers of the Ministries for Health, Science and Finances of each Federal State and in the Federal Republic of Germany. The contents of this consensus paper are outlined in this article.
