摘要

Music, depending on the type of engagement, whether it is passive listening or active participation, has the potential to produce a wide range of bio-psychosocial reactions. This quantitative research examines the relationship between different music genres and their effects on stress reduction, anxiety relief, and mood enhancement among university students. A questionnaire survey method was used for data collection from 450 students, and the data were analyzed through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for the purpose of recognizing major correlations between music engagement and mental well-being impacts. The results showed that classical music is positively linked with the reduction of stress and anxiety, while ambient electronic music has a mood-enhancing effect, but the active modes of music interaction were not directly investigated. The outcomes of this research are consistent with existing literature, while providing a more detailed understanding of the impact on specific categories. Through the study, music’s possibility as a non-pharmacological coping strategy is being acknowledged, and at the same time, it is pointed out that further experimental evidence is necessary for making claims. Subsequent studies should examine the effects of culture on active engagement patterns and the healing power of music.
