<p>Drawing on career construction theory, this study examines the impact of undergraduates’ big-five personality traits on proactive career exploration behavior, with a focus on the mediating role of need for future career achievement. We conducted two studies in China to test hypotheses. In Study 1, multi-wave data were collected from 207 senior students at an application-oriented university. In Study 2, multi-wave data were collected from 201 university senior students at an online data platform. Mplus 8 was used to performed path analysis and bootstrapping analysis to test hypotheses. The results reveal that extroversion and conscientiousness are positively related to need for future career achievement. Additionally, need for future career achievement is positively related to proactive career exploration behavior. Furthermore, need for future career achievement mediates the effects of extroversion and conscientiousness on proactive career exploration behavior. The implications and limitations of this study are also discussed.</p>
