摘要

All children require care and attention from their parents, but raising a child with a disability significantly increases the caregiving demands. In collectivist societies like Pakistan, where mothers bear the primary responsibility for caregiving, this can profoundly impact their physical and mental well-being. The present study was conducted to understand mothers’ perceptions and to explore the challenges they face in caring for children with Cerebral Palsy. For this purpose, the phenomenological interview approach of qualitative research design was used. After gathering and managing the data from participants, software for qualitative data analysis, “NVivo12 Pro”, was used for labeling, theme generation, and categorizing the themes. The main categories emerged explaining the perception of the mother as a caregiver of a child with Cerebral Palsy. The collected data and analysis reveal that mothers face physical, psychological, social, and economic domains. Overall results show that mothers of CP children face alarming physical and psychological issues that need to be addressed in the future through counseling and guidance.
