摘要

With this study, we aimed to ascertain the cultural validity of the CAPTION model (consisting of Complexity, Adversity, Positive Valence, Typicality, Importance, Humor, and Negative Valence) as a situational taxonomy within the Korean cultural context. We validated the CAPTIONs-SF, designed to measure the CAPTION model, using a domestic sample. The participants were 445 male and female adults aged 25–39. Data were collected using two distinct methods, and each set underwent a separate scale validation. The model fit from the confirmatory factor analysis was acceptable. Convergent and criterion validity were also established through correlations with the Situation Six Questionnaire and the NEO Adult Personality Assessment System Short Form (NEO-Adult-PAS-SF). Furthermore, no differences in factor structure were observed between the two data collection methods. These findings affirm the applicability of the CAPTION model as a situational taxonomy in the Korean cultural sphere. Finally, the significance and limitations of the study are discussed.
