摘要

This brief report explores whether the triarchic model of grit’s dimensions –perseverance of effort, consistency of interests, and adaptability to situations– predict objective academic achievement using a prospective correlational design. An online survey –with questionnaires on grit, conscientiousness, and other demographic information– was administered to 745 Chinese preservice teachers, who were recruited via a convenience sampling approach. Results of hierarchical regression analyses showed that when controlling for demographic factors, conscientiousness, and previous achievement, adaptability positively predicted subsequent achievement. This research emphasizes the vital role of adaptability in preservice teachers’ achievement.
