摘要

Although extensive research has examined the role of feedback in student learning, limited studies have investigated how the language used in feedback affects academic performance in grammar test and emotional responses, especially in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) settings. This mixed-methods report explored the effects of growth mindset feedback compared to traditional feedback on students’ grammar achievement, perceptions, and emotional experiences. Twelve Iranian EFL high school students were assigned to either an experimental group (n = 6), which received growth mindset feedback, or a control group (n = 6), which received score-based feedback. Both groups completed two parallel grammar tests, followed by semi-structured interviews. Findings revealed that the experimental group showed significant improvement in grammar scores, highlighting the role of feedback language in enhancing academic performance. Interview responses suggested that growth mindset feedback positively influenced students’ motivation and self-esteem, unlike traditional feedback.
