<p>Algorithmic control is a new form of control of the online labor process in the digital era, which places higher demands and pressures on platform workers. This study investigated the association between perceived algorithmic control and job burnout. Additionally, it explores the mediating role of relative deprivation and the moderating role of digital technology identity in this relationship. We conducted a questionnaire survey with 448 food delivery riders from Henan Province, central China, and used regression analysis to determine whether perceived algorithmic control could predict job burnout. Relative deprivation partially mediates the relationship between perceived algorithmic control and job burnout, and digital technology identity moderates the direct impact of perceived algorithmic control on job burnout. This study contributes to a better understanding of the negative influence of algorithmic control on platform workers' bodies and minds and facilitates the development of prevention strategies aimed at reducing job burnout and improving the quality of work.</p>
