<p>In an increasingly interconnected world, understanding the human factors such as emotional regulation (ER), cultural intelligence (CQ), and risk-taking propensity (RTP) that drive innovation performance is more critical than ever. This research explores the influencing factors of innovation performance, specifically examining the roles of ER, CQ, and RTP. Conducted among 243 university students and recent alumni from Guangdong Province, China, this research employs a robust methodological framework to provide insights into these variables. Participants provided responses through online questionnaires assessing ER, CQ, RTP, and innovation performance. Measures included the Emotional Intelligence Scale for ER, a 20-item CQ scale, an adapted Scott and Bruce’s scale for Innovation, and an 8-item RTP scale from the Domain-Specific Risk-Attitude Scale. The CFA test was employed on each scale separately using the Mplus software package to refine and validate the scales. SPSS 22.0 software is used to analyze the collected data. Hypothesis testing was done using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results showed that while ER does not notably influence innovation performance, CQ, particularly its metacognitive and behavioral dimensions, and RTP are positively related to innovation. These findings underscore the significance of developing CQ and fostering risk-taking behaviors to enhance innovation capabilities. This study yielded some unexpected findings, which have led to a range of theoretical, practical, social, and research implications. The study provided future scopes that aim to further refine and expand the understanding of the key variables and their implications.</p>
