摘要

The present study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Azerbaijani version of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire – Short Form (TEIQue-SF). The sample consisted of 451 participants (72% female, 28% male) aged between 17 and 44 years. To evaluate the factor structure of the instrument, three competing models were tested: (a) a four-factor confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) model (CFI = 0.904, RMSEA = 0.058), (b) an exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) model (CFI = 0.864, RMSEA = 0.063), and (c) a bifactor ESEM (BI-ESEM) model integrating both general and specific trait emotional intelligence factors (CFI = 0.912, RMSEA = 0.056). Among these, the BI-ESEM model demonstrated the best fit to the data, indicating a strong and interpretable latent structure. The internal consistency of the TEIQue-SF was also found to be high (Cronbach’s α = 0.883). Overall, the findings provide robust evidence for the reliability and construct validity of the Azerbaijani version of the TEIQue-SF, supporting its use in future empirical studies on emotional intelligence within this cultural context.
