摘要

The descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the stigmatization levels and coping attitudes of women receiving infertility treatment. The sample of the study consisted of 324 women who applied to the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Center of a public hospital and volunteered to participate in the study. Data were collected using the “Personal Information Form”, “Infertility Stigma Scale (ISS)” and “Coping Attitudes Assessment Scale (CAAS)”. The mean age of the participants was 31.54 ± 5.78 years (min:21, max:48), 35.2% of the women had been infertile for 5 years or more and 25.3% had been receiving treatment for 2 years or more. It was also determined that 72.2% had a primary infertility diagnosis. Duration of infertility (p < 0.001), type of infertility (p < 0.005), duration of treatment (p < 0.001) and smoking (p < 0.001) were found to significantly affect infertile women’s perceptions of stigmatization. It was determined that women mostly preferred religious coping (14.16 ± 2.62) and positive reinterpretation and development (13.45 ± 2.40), and least preferred substance use (4.88 ± 2.16) and behavioral divorce (6.94 ± 2.88). In addition, the factors affecting infertile women’s coping with stress were analyzed by linear regression analysis and it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the age of infertile women and the sub-dimension score of religious coping attitudes (p = 0.01). It was determined that infertile women who participated in the study perceived stigmatization below the average, while religious coping attitudes increased with increasing age.
