TMT gender diversity, organizational environment and corporate resilience
摘要
Corporate resilience necessitates both stability and adaptability to withstand sudden shocks and routine disruptions, reflected respectively in operational efficiency and strategic flexibility. Drawing on social role theory, this study explores the impact of top management team (TMT) gender diversity on corporate resilience, as well as the moderating effect of TMT stability and an employee-friendly culture. Utilizing panel data from Chinese A-share listed companies from 2016 to 2023, this study employs fixed-effects models for empirical testing. The results indicate that TMT gender diversity significantly enhances both corporate stability and adaptability. Moreover, TMT stability and employee-friendly culture positively moderate these relationships. This study addresses the limitations of previous research, which has primarily focused on resilience in response to sudden shocks. By integrating the effects of TMT gender diversity on both stability and adaptability in the face of both sudden and routine disruptions, this study offers a more comprehensive understanding of corporate resilience. The practical and theoretical implications of this study are significant, providing insights into TMT gender restructuring and fostering corporate resilience.
