Strengthening path and influencing factors of overseas Chinese cultural identity from the perspective of educational psychology
摘要
This study aims to explore the pathways of reinforcing cultural identity among overseas Chinese from the perspective of educational psychology and examine the influencing factors. Through a questionnaire survey, participants’ perceptions of the 1921–1937 Xiamen University case were investigated. The study analyzes the impact of educational experiences, cultural exchanges, family support, and social networks on the Chinese cultural identity of overseas Chinese. Additionally, it validates corresponding research hypotheses. Through a comprehensive investigation employing questionnaire surveys and rigorous statistical analysis, a dataset comprising 278 valid responses was amassed to scrutinize the dynamic trajectory of Chinese cultural identity. The findings reveal compelling evidence underscoring the substantive impact of key factors on Chinese cultural identity. Specifically, educational experience exhibited a statistically significant positive effect (correlation coefficient: 0.42, p < 0.01), alongside active participation in cultural exchange activities (correlation coefficient: 0.37, p < 0.01) and family support (correlation coefficient: 0.29, p < 0.05). Notably, variables such as educational attainment, frequency of engagement in cultural exchange initiatives, and the perpetuation of familial traditions demonstrated a positive association with cultural identity. Importantly, gender and age exhibited no statistically significant variance in relation to these influential factors. These empirical findings yield valuable insights for the preservation and augmentation of cultural identity within overseas Chinese communities, thereby furnishing a substantive foundation for prospective research endeavors in this domain.
