摘要

The COVID-19 pandemic called for strong preventive measures which demonstrates the individual differences. To understand how psychological factors influence preventive behaviors, we developed a questionnaire encompassing four dimensions. Additionally, we surveyed 1,374 Chinese college students and analyzed their responses. The Results showed a positive correlation between psychological adaptation and preventive behaviors. Moreover, risk cognition served as a mediator in the relationship between psychological adaptation and preventive behaviors. Furthermore, stress-coping ability moderated the mediation model. Thus, authorities and practitioners should focus on the psychological adaptation of college students and develop interventions aimed at reducing risk cognition and enhancing stress-coping ability. Our study provides a new perspective on improving the preventive behaviors of college students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
