How do emotional intelligence and psychological well-being affect decision making in Omani SMEs? Mediating role of entrepreneurial intention?

In a country where entrepreneurship is encouraged, Omani SMEs must make informed and strategic decisions to navigate the highly competitive business landscape. Decision-making in Omani SMEs is guided by several factors such as market conditions, financial resources, government policies, and cultural values. This research aims to investigate the emotions and psychological well-being of Omani entrepreneurs in decision-making through entrepreneurial intention. The target population of this research was the entrepreneurs in Omani SMEs where the sample consisted of 114 Omani entrepreneurs (founders, co-founders of SMEs) who were selected randomly from different industrial areas in Oman under the industrial areas (Madayn). This study utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) found that the health and emotional intelligence of Omani business owners significantly influence decision-making in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as entrepreneurial aspirations. These findings are crucial for comprehending the traits and actions of business owners when making decisions in SMEs. The study also explored practical and economic consequences offering suggestions to entrepreneurs such as seeking support and feedback, setting real objectives, fostering a positive attitude, self-care practices, and maintaining a work-life balance.
