<p>This article aims to create a workable definition of the transnational nuclear family that is applicable and measurable in the context of the Basque Country and for the Latin American case. This has been done using data from the “Immigrant Foreign Population Survey,” a statistical operation carried out by the Basque Government. The result has been an indicator that has made it possible to measure the presence of transnational nuclear families, in general, and those of Latin American origin, in particular, and their characteristics. Based on our indicator, we have observed that the number of Latin American families that participate in this kind of relationship is small, although greater than that of families of other foreign origins. It was seen that the presence of these families is particularly important among working migrant women, and so variables such as gender and work situation are significant in this kind of family structure.</p>
