摘要

This study aims to investigate the mediating role of early maladaptive cognitive schemas in the relationship between quality of sexual life and relationship satisfaction in older women. The study, conducted using a cross-sectional design, included 210 women aged 60 and over residing in Istanbul. Participants completed the Sexual Life Quality-Women (SQoL-F), Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form (YSQ-SF), and Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) questionnaires. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationships between variables. Additionally, serial multiple mediation analysis was applied using the PROCESS macro (Model 6) to investigate whether maladaptive schemas mediated the relationship between quality of sexual life and relationship satisfaction. The results showed a statistically significant and positive relationship between quality of sexual life and relationship satisfaction. The schema domains “disconnection and rejection,” “impaired autonomy and performance,” and “unrelenting standards” were observed to function as partial mediators in this relationship. Furthermore, individuals with lower quality of sexual life were found to tend to exhibit higher levels of maladaptive schemas in these specific areas. These results highlight the influential role of cognitive schemas in shaping both sexual satisfaction and relational satisfaction in older women.
