<p>Gender-based violence (GBV) remains one of the most widespread issues globally, with serious consequences for health and human rights, particularly for women and girls. In 2022, more than 108&#xa0;million people were forcibly displaced worldwide, with 76% living in low- and middle-income countries a situation that significantly increases the risks of GBV. In the Centre-North region of Burkina Faso, where nearly two million people are displaced, services for GBV survivors remain underutilized and insufficiently studied. In 2023, 2,789 cases of GBV were reported in the region, including 11% involving sexual violence though the actual numbers are likely much higher due to widespread underreporting. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological approach to examine barriers to GBV service access among internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kaya. Data were collected from 28 care providers through interviews, observation, and document review, with thematic analysis conducted using NVivo 12. Findings identify socio-cultural, institutional, and financial barriers to access. Survivors face the fear of stigmatization, self-blame, and lack of GBV awareness, often remaining silent to avoid social judgment, retaliation, or loss of family stability. Institutional challenges include shortages of trained professionals, inadequate confidentiality, poor intersectoral collaboration, and inaccessible services. Additionally, financial constraints limit care access, with critical services incurring prohibitive costs despite international subsidies. The study recommends the establishment of integrated service structures, such as One-Stop Centers, to improve accessibility, enhance care quality, and strengthen coordination. It also calls for targeted actions, including provider training, community education, and policies eliminating out-of-pocket costs for survivors, to ensure equitable, survivor-centered care in humanitarian settings.</p>
