The Sahel: A Tragedy That Never Ends
摘要
A vast region in Africa which spans from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Red Sea in the east, the Sahel is one of the world’s most dangerous and impoverished places, beset by civil wars, ethnic massacres, starvation, and political chaos. Daniel Chirot reflects on numerous trips he has made to the Sahel since the 1960s and on the colonial and post-colonial sources of the area’s tragic instability.
