Some Reflections on “Transfer” from Herzl to Trump
摘要
The question of “transfer” has become part of the discussion of Israel/Palestine of late in light of President Trump’s proposal to “re-locate” residents of Gaza to other countries as part of a permanent cease fire in the Gaza War. This essay explores the history of the term “transfer” throughout Zionist history to show that the idea is not new but was often an option among Zionists in the center and on the right. This is not to suggest it is legitimate, quite the opposite, but to show that it has been an integral option of Zionist thinking from the very beginning of the movement.
