<p>This study analyzes book descriptions from the “contemporary romance” and the “mystery and thriller” genres to determine if there is a significant difference in their content. Results from a binary logistic regression indicate that characterization content significantly predicts book descriptions from the “contemporary romance” genre as compared to those from the “mystery and thriller” genre. In both genres, plot, characterization, hook, and book evaluation content were conventional. The results enrich the current understanding of how book descriptions vary between genres and provide implications for book publishers, editors, and&#xa0;authors who write descriptions for books of these genres.</p>
