Marine Actinobacteria Mediated Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticle Synthesis and Its Application Towards Synthesis of Quinolines

The extracellular synthesis of titanium dioxide nanoparticles has been investigated using the marine actinobacteria, Streptomyces sp. LK-3. UV–visible spectroscopy, XRD, AFM and SPM techniques were used to characterize the particle size, morphology and found to be within the range of 3.5–92 nm with spherical and oval shape. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles have been subjected as a catalyst in the synthesis of 2, 3, 4-trisubstituted quinolines and found to be an efficient and reusable catalyst. The developed procedure is simple, fast, affords good yield, cost-effective and environmentally benign. The recovered catalyst can be reused without a considerable change in its activity. In addition titanium dioxide nanoparticles exhibit 13 mm activity against isolated biofouling bacteria, Staphylococcus sp. and it also showed Rhodamine B degradation within 10 min.
