<p>Medical research has discovered the role of curcumin in the management of oral mucositis (OM) in patients suffering from head and neck cancer. To provide evidence for the management of OM by curcumin, a comprehensive meta-analysis of these findings is necessary. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy of curcumin in managing oral mucositis (OM) caused by radiotherapy (RT) and/or chemotherapy (CT) for head and neck cancer. A systematic review and meta-analysis were executed in accordance with the PRISMA framework. PubMed, Lilacs, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, and EBSCOhost were investigated for studies up to December 2024. Randomized controlled trials evaluating curcumin in the prevention and management of patients receiving RT and/or CT were included. Screening and data extraction were done using Covidence. Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk-of-Bias tool 2. Meta-analysis was accomplished using Review Manager software. A aggregate of 843 patients participated in these trials. Mean WHO mucositis score was significantly reduced in the curcumin group over the comparator at 4&#xa0;weeks (n = 286, MD = -0.42, CI -0.55, -0.29). Pooling of results from five trials preferred Curcumin with substantial reduction of pain score with a pooled mean difference of -3.00 (CI -3.34, -2.66, p &lt; 0.00001). Curcumin is a harmless, natural bioactive constituent that can be used in the management of OM in patients undergoing RT and/or CT.</p>
