Treatment of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction - Balloon Dilation and Isthmus Probing
摘要
This study aims to analyse prospectively the effectiveness and safety of combined Balloon Dilation and Probing of isthmus in ETD. 100 adults with persistent ETD cases, after failed medical treatment were selected for the study. Among 100 cases postoperative ability to perform Valsalva and Tympanometry-ET function was positive in 92 (92%) cases starting from postoperative 3 months. 8 (8%) cases failed for above mentioned ET function. No major complication encountered. Average follow up periods is 12 months. ET balloon dilation with probing of the ET isthmus with optimum medical treatment has better results than ET balloon dilation and medical treatment alone. It is noninvasive, safe and effective procedure to improve the Eustachian Tube function with durable results.
