摘要

To identify correlation between Reflux symptom index (RSI) and Reflux finding score (RFS) in laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) disease. Cross sectional study involving patients presenting with symptoms suggestive of LPR to ENT Department at Malabar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kozhikode, Kerala, India. 50 subjects who fulfil inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited in the study. Total RSI was calculated and following video laryngoscopic examination (VLS) RFS was calculated based on consensus between two ENT surgeons. Pearson’s correlation was calculated between RSI and RFS. There was only weak correlation identified between RSI and RFS (r = 0.276), p value = 0.05. The study did not identify a strong correlation between RSI and RFS. A high RSI score does not mean a high RFS or a more severe abnormal finding in VLS.
