<p>The acoustics analysis of swallowing sound has been used to evaluate dysphagia, especially in the adult population, objectively. However, validation of this approach in children has not been extensively reported. Moreover, auscultation in children across various consistencies, such as solid, liquid, and semisolid, is not yet widely explored. This study aimed to analyse the acoustic pattern of swallow sound in young children of the age range of 3 years to 7 years across various food consistencies such as solid, liquid, and semi-solid. A total of 30 healthy children (mean age ± 3month) consisting of 15 boys and 15 girls participated. Swallowing sounds were recorded using an AKG C411/PP vibration pickup contact condenser contact microphone in a sound-treated room. Acoustic parameters like intensity, frequency at peak intensity, and duration of swallow sound were determined. Based on normal distribution of data, ANOVA analysis was done, and it was observed that frequency [f(2,87) = 27.54, <i>p</i> &lt; 0.001)], intensity [f(2,87) = 25.46, <i>p</i> &lt; 0.001)] and duration [f(2,87) = 94.26, <i>p</i> &lt; 0.001)] differed significantly. Intensity, frequency, and duration were higher for solids, followed by semisolids and liquids. Across gender analysis of variance showed no significant gender effect on the average intensity [F(1, 84) = 0.000, <i>p</i> = 0.997], frequency [F(1, 84) = 0.026, <i>p</i> = 0.872], or duration [F(1, 84) = 0.003, <i>p</i> = 0.958] of swallow sounds across all tested food textures. These findings suggest that swallowing sound-based acoustic measures in young children could be a valid tool for the assessment of swallowing patterns.</p>
