<p>Basal cell adenoma is a type of monomorphic adenoma with incidence of 1–3% and is most frequently seen with parotid gland. The cytomorphologic picture is to be differentiated from basal cell adenocarcinoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma. We report here a case of 72year old women with incidental finding of basal cell adenoma of minor salivary gland of upper lip diagnosed as mucocele clinically. Final diagnosis was made as Basal cell adenoma of minor salivary gland of upper lip with focal membranous pattern. It was supported by immunohistochemistry of Cytokeratin 7 and Calponin. It is important to differentiate clinico radiologically as cystic or solid lesion as well as if benign tumours from basal cell adenocarcinoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma with solid/trabecular pattern Even though it is benign, it should be checked thoroughly for any features of malignancy. The importance of membranous pattern of basal cell adenoma is its capacity to recur and hence it requires follow up.</p>
