Clinical Effect Analysis of Noninvasive Correction Technique for Congenital Auricle Deformity in Children

To observe the curative effect of EarWell noninvasive correction system upon congenital auricle deformity in children.
MethodologyThis is a prospective study. Children with congenital auricle deformities treated by EarWell non-invasive correction system in ** Hospital of ** Medical University from June 2020 to June 2023 were selected as the research objects. They were followed up for 6 months after treatment to analyze the types of these auricle deformities, age at application, duration of application, effects and complications.
Results87 children with auricle deformity in 116 ears were treated with EarWell noninvasive correction system, including cryptotia, prominent ear, cup ear, lop ear, Stahl’s ear, constricted ear, Concha Crus, Helical rim deformity and mixed ear deformity. The overall effective rate of treatment was 94.8%, the average age at application was 20.03 days, and the duration of application was 5.3 weeks. The efficacy showed positive correlation with the age at which the corrective system was applied, and those with earlier interventions revealed better outcomes. However, no relationship was observed with the duration of treatment. Complications such as local epidermal damage (abrasions or pressure sores) and dermatitis (swollen skin with blood or eczema) were observed during the treatment. Mild recurrence was reported in 4 ears and no further treatment was conducted.
ConclusionEarwell non-invasive correction system is a simple, effective and non-invasive treatment for congenital auricle deformity. The key is early diagnosis and early treatment to restore the perfect shape of the auricle in children.
