Jute Rope Blunt Neck Injury: When Looks Are Deceiving
摘要
Blunt injury to the neck is uncommon and can cause significant morbidity and mortality if not detected early. Presenting symptoms sometimes do not correlate with the severity of the injury. Prompt diagnosis and management is needed in order to secure the airway and prevent complications. We share our experience in managing a case of a young gentleman who sustained a blunt injury to his neck after his neck got caught by a jute rope while riding his motorbike who subsequently developed subcutaneous emphysema and cricotracheal separation which later complicated with bilateral vocal cords palsy and acquired subglottic stenosis.
