<p>The development of a digital based speech perception test represents a significant advancement, particularly in the field of cochlear implants. The main objective of the study was to assess the performance scores of children with cochlear implants (CIs) using an Early Speech Perception Test in Tamil (ESPT) through both traditional and application-based approaches. ESPT was administered to 40 children with CI using both the traditional and app- based methodology. The study was conducted as cross-sectional study design in two phases, in phase I, the traditional method of ESPT was carried out. In phase II, the app-based ESPT was administered to the same participants. The performance scores were analyzed using both the methodologies. The Bland Altman plots indicated “excellent reliability” for both the traditional and app-based methodologies, and the intraclass correlation coefficient for both methodologies indicated 96% consistency. The difference in mean ESPT scores between the traditional method and the app-based method was negligible. This study indicates that the app-based approach can also serve as a viable alternative to the traditional ESPT method.</p>
