Loss of Taste: A Case of Unusual Tonsillectomy Complication Resolved with Empiric Zinc Supplementation

摘要

Post-tonsillectomy loss of taste is an uncommon, yet significant complication. The author reports a case of post-tonsillectomy loss of taste, for six months. Zinc deficiency was thought to be the cause, it resolved with zinc supplementation. Otorhinolaryngologists should be aware of this complication, do proper preoperative counseling, and follow up.
