Large granulomatous fungal mass in the mediastinum with compression symptoms in an infant
摘要
Mediastinal masses are not uncommon in childhood. Common mediastinal masses causing compression symptoms are lymphoma and neuroendocrine tumors. Infective etiology is rare, and fungal etiology is not yet reported. A 4-month-old child presented with respiratory distress due to a rapidly growing mediastinal mass with tracheal compression. The child was referred for open tumor biopsy as computed tomography–guided biopsy was difficult. Biopsy revealed chronic inflammatory changes secondary to fungal infection.
