Zivilcourage
摘要
The article introduces the thematic focus on “civil courage.” It aims to highlight the challenging situation of social work and to discuss—across the contributions to this focus, each with different emphases—the idea of acting with civil courage. While civil courage is broadly demanded and promoted within the public sphere, it can present dilemmas for social work due to its embedding within welfare-state structures, making it difficult at times to actively confront perceived grievances and experiences of injustice. Therefore, it seems essential not to view civil courage in an overly individualizing and reductive way, but rather to also consider structural possibilities for action as well as opportunities for professional, disciplinary, and reflective engagement.
