摘要

This article addresses the dilemma of the lack of a right to refuse to give evidence in criminal proceedings in social work and highlights the direct implications for professional social work practice. The authors emphasise that this is not an individual problem for professionals, but rather a structural (legal) problem that must be negotiated and resolved at the political level. Finally, the article critically discusses the extent to which the behaviour of the employees of the Fanprojekt Karlsruhe is an expression of courageous social work practice and whether it is appropriate to speak of ‘civil courage’ in this context.
