Based on the assumption that families play a key role in organizing the raise of children and young people, and that public institutions are fundamental linked to family needs, the article discusses the relationship between family and (social) welfare institutions in more detail. Families and institutions are interlinked with regard to needs and life situations or in the interaction of educational tasks and support—aimed at strengthening the social functioning of families or supporting their educational significance.
