We know from psychological research that decisions and impulses to act are accompanied by feelings, which is particularly true when morality is involved. Feelings such as compassion, pride, shame or indignation are so closely linked to moral convictions that they are considered ‘moral feelings’. This article examines the significance of moral feelings during a period of study, a phase of life with specific challenges and developmental impulses.
