Based on a selected interview sequence between two student teachers of special needs education, the article discusses the fact that dealing with the emotional experience of one’s own time at school can also lead to the career aspiration of special needs teacher, although aspects of knowledge and norm transfer are lost and the boundaries between social work and special needs education can become very blurred. This is problematized against the background of the requirement for multi-professional cooperation, which is currently being demanded in practice and discussed professionally, especially in the context of inclusive school development and the expansion of all-day schools. The article begins by turning the familiar question of an education of emotions on its head and sheds light on the power of emotions experienced in the context of the formal educational institution of school—When the seriousness of life begins.
