The previous cannabis prohibition policy could not stop the increase in consumption in Germany, but led to additional risks for consumers due to criminalization, harmful admixtures and unclear active ingredient content. The German Cannabis Act is therefore a step in the right direction. In prevention and counselling, communication can be made more open and less stigmatizing.
