Sexismus im Fußball

Discriminatory practices in the context of football represent a structural and therefore socially relevant problem. Furthermore, these practices—such as the sexist comments within and in the immediate vicinity of football stadiums described in this article—have a considerable impact on the socialisation of children and adolescents. Accordingly, the focus will initially be on the theoretical assumptions of socialisation, using Berger and Luckmann’s explanations as an example, in order to shed light on exemplary statements and situation descriptions received by the Reporting Office for Discrimination in Football (MeDiF NRW). Finally, examples of concrete recommendations for action and projects already underway to combat discrimination in football are outlined.
