The state recognition of social workers and social pedagogues looks back on a long tradition and has been the subject of numerous and controversial debates for many years. In addition to a basic introduction to the topic, this article is dedicated to the current relevance and current practice of awarding state recognition, identifies key areas for discussion and introduces the focus.
