Menschenrechtsbasiert, rechtsstaatlich, demokratieverbindlich

In terms of professional policy, state recognition in social work is associated with a professional qualification that is supposed to enable people to act in a sovereign manner. This qualification is subject to the risk of social workers behaving uncritically and compliantly towards the state. Using the example of legal advice for refugees, this article argues for a redesign of state recognition that legitimises contradicting and correcting government action.
