Arme Kinder und ihre Familien

The article deals with media and political discourses on child poverty and concepts for basic child protection. First of all, it criticises the approaches of various poverty-distorting variants in the media and academia as well as the confusion of risks and reasons for poverty in the views of some researchers and journalists. The article also examines the question of how and why previous measures against child poverty have obviously not been successful and what is now planned and to be expected, e.g. with the basic child protection promised by the federal government. Finally, it will be analysed which measures would be necessary to really reduce child poverty.
