Das deutsche Kinderschutzsystem

This article provides an overview on the German child protection system in the context of social work. The system is embedded in the overall logic of child and youth welfare and is based on a multitude of legal texts. Against this background, the article examines legal foundations, service forms, institutions, academic training, and current debates. Finally, it is discussed that the German child protection system on the one hand holds out the prospect of extensive participation rights for users, but at the same time a care crisis to be overcome is emerging.
