摘要

The present study investigates the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions generated by various activities and resources within a university campus, aiming to quantify the overall per capita CO2 emissions. It involves classifying physical resources based on their emission levels and conducting baselines studies based on greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol, segregating emission hotspots based on direct or indirect contribution, aligning all possible sources in emissions inventory is suggested to prepare. Concurrently, a climate profile is developed through the analysis of existing research on GHG emissions from academic institutions, providing insights into their overall contribution. The work also involves methodology creation of emission analysis that involves multiple source-wise contributions, specifying the data collection procedure, reliable emission factors as per global standards, and for accounting and reporting is used. Providing the relevancy with effective management of resources, and infrastructure in obtaining carbon emissions, with optimum utilization effects on emission levels is also carried out. Multi-stage opportunities are identified to mitigate emissions through the implementation of carbon sinks. The process of estimation, identification, and auditing helps in methodology creation for carbon emission at university level, as well as creation of policies, procedures, awareness initiatives, and skill-building activities incognito. Achieving net zero emissions is essential for institutions therefore, it is imperative to identify organizational processes that contribute to emissions, thereby enhancing efforts to reduce them and supporting the country’s demographic dividend by equipping the youth with skills to address transition challenges. This study explores technological ways, methodology implementation process optimization, inventory creation and identification of per-person carbon emission in a university campus along with practices to reduce it for a longer term period. The work examines fundamental calculations, application creation and strategies for lowering emissions, ultimately offering practical solutions to reduce the campus’s carbon footprint.
