Evaluation of risks and modelling in relation to smartphone supply chains

The emergence of smartphones, followed by the transformation of social networking sites and the recent development of various apps into mobile phone applications, has led to smartphones playing a big role in people's daily lives, causing a huge surge in demand with increased supply chain risks. In light of recent global disruptions, this study assesses and models the significant risks involved in today’s smartphone supply chains. These risks are classified into six broad groups, and a hybrid Fuzzy Best-Worst Method is used to prioritize the identified risks and provide strategic management recommendations to strengthen global smartphone supply chains. The results indicate that operational risks should be addressed as a top priority by decision-makers, followed by Financial, Sourcing, Technical, and Environmental risks. The study suggests that regular inspection of machines and proper maintenance strategies can help reduce the process risk and result in major cost and operational benefits. The findings of this study provide a novel contribution to the field. The prioritized list of risks relevant to smartphone supply chains can act as a reference for organizations involved in the smartphone industry to improve their supply chains and plan effective risk mitigation strategies globally.
