<p>This part of the article includes an activity involving a set of molluscan shells from different families, where a comparison of their features is conducted to generate a distance matrix. Further, this distance matrix is used to generate a dendrogram. This activity can be used as is or in a modified format to teach the UPGMA method of generating classification trees in the undergraduate curriculum.</p>
