<p>This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the variations in beach profiles and sediment characteristics in different tidal environments along the east coast of India. Beach profiles and sediment samples were collected seasonally from seven locations (distributed in micro, meso- and macro-tidal regions), suggesting that temporal analysis could be used to capture changes in beach morphology and sediment characteristics over time. The statistical characteristics of the sediment grain size were used to discriminate between the environment and the mechanics of sediment deposition. The sediment grain-size results revealed that the variations at these stations are due to the energy conditions of transportation and deposition along the coast. Increased beach slope and decreased beach width led to sediment erosion during the NE monsoon due to prevailing high wave energy and heavy precipitation. The net sediment transport pathways derived from grain-size trend analysis depict erosional and depositional environments. This comprehensive study of beach profiles and sediment characteristics in various tidal environments along the east coast of India, employing a seasonal approach from seven distinct locations, offers valuable insights into the temporal dynamics of beach morphology and sediment characteristics.</p>
