<p>The high-frequency attenuation parameter Kappa (<i>κ</i>) governs the decay of high frequencies significantly. It may differ depending on the source, path, site, or a combination of these parameters. In the present study, we determined ‘<i>κ</i>' values for three regions: Kachchh, Saurashtra, Mainland Gujarat, and these regions are all located in the western part of the Deccan Volcanic Province (DVP), India, and is an intraplate region. ‘<i>κ</i>' values were derived from 423 earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from M<sub>L</sub>3.0&#xa0;to&#xa0;5.3, recorded by the Institute of Seismological Research, Gujarat, India. The acceleration time histories have been converted into a spectrum using a conventional Fast Fourier transform technique. The spectral decay parameter is determined by performing linear-least square fits acceleration spectrum on a log-linear plot. The ‘<i>κ</i>’ values vary between 0.009 and 0.055 for the western part of DVP with average ‘<i>κ</i>’ values of 0.0241 ± 0.0096, 0.0207 ± 0.0071, 0.0212 ± 0.0078 for Kachchh, Saurashtra, and Mainland Gujarat regions, respectively. Dependency of ‘Kappa (<i>κ</i>)’ has been observed on distance, site, and source for all three regions. The estimated high-frequency attenuation parameter ‘Kappa (<i>κ</i>)’ is essential in seismic hazard assessments and can be employed during the simulation of strong ground motions.</p>
