<p>Dr. Sampath Parthasarathy, popular as “Sam”, was a quintessential scientist, effective teacher, unrestricted collaborator, committed mentor, devoted educator, and an erudite scholar. Dr. Parthasarathy was a celebrated lipidologist. His decades of research spanned a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines including phospholipid metabolism, lipid enzymology, chemistry and biochemistry of membrane phospholipids, oxidative stress, oxidized polyunsaturated fatty acids, antioxidant biochemistry, analytical biochemistry, lipid nutrition, drug discovery, and clinical and translational lipidology. Dr. Parthasarathy conducted his scientific research with utmost compassion, in depth understanding of scientific principles, methodological rigor, and impeccable scientific integrity which successfully led to his impactful discoveries and overall advancement of his field(s) of research. The author of this essay commemorates Dr. Parthasarathy for his indefatigable tenacity of conducting lipidology research for decades, which has opened up new avenues for successive generation of scientists under his tutelage and guidance.</p>
